Believe it or not, before the might Pocket Cricket was born, I was designing non sport boardgames. I recently found some time while new Pocket Sports are in production to reviews old notes and ideas I scribble down in a notebook.
A solitaire RPG (role playing game) has always appealed to me as it's only a degree or two different to Pocket Sports. Compact, portable, replayable and collectable....all of this can be replicated in an adventure series over a number of chapters, much like a book.
I find using the screencast to record and talk through the process and novel and unique way to process the game development. It also shares the thoughts and reasons why I want a game to feel and play in a certain way. I've never been concerned about hiding ideas away in fear of them being stolen as by sharing them and getting feedback can improve the game and make the final product even better.
Revenge is a small game about a Samurai journey across the lands, fighting and slaying those responsible for a tragedy in his past. The video above share the premise to the game design and some simple mechanics that make it work.
